Eating the Basque Country
10 days exploring the Basque Country through its food, culture and txakoli. From the streets of Bilbao to the beaches of San Sebastián, we travelled to eat, drink and take it all in.
3 days in Bilbao
We hit Bilbao during Aste Nagusia. The city was buzzing with ska-punk and cervezas. We also made it to the Guggenheim and ate some brilliant pintxos. Bilbao surprised us most with its people: open, proud and spicy.

Donostia and friends
San Sebastian gave us golden beaches, pintxos that kept us wandering from bar to bar, and the easy rhythm of the sea. A short train to Tolosa brought the meal of our lives at AMA, while Astigarraga offered cider poured straight from towering barrels. We liked San Sebastian but it was a little too busy for us.

All the Food
Everywhere we went, there was something new to eat: anchovies, beef, salt cod, bread, cider, txakoli. A record of the trip in meals—messy, generous and unforgettable.
